Paul Burman is an experienced program director and project developer with more than 15-years foreign and domestic expertise in energy, climate change, and carbon markets. Mr. Burman currently oversees renewable development for Invenergy in the American Southwest, advancing large grid-connected energy projects including solar and energy storage.
Paul has permitted 750 MW of solar and energy storage projects, signed thousands of acres of land for renewable energy development, and has worked collaboratively with local, state, and federal officials throughout the southwest.
Previously, Paul implemented clean energy and energy access projects for US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Africa, the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia. He has overseen more than $50 million of donor funded projects in the Democractic Republic of Congo, Niger, Nigeria, the Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, and Vietnam where he ensured high quality technical, operational, and financial implementation.
Additionally, Paul has sector expertise in carbon accounting and carbon offsets from his work with the ACR (formerly the American Carbon Registry). He was a moderately successful climate legisation campaigner and organizer in Virginia for the Cheapeake Climate Action Network.
Paul has a MSc in Energy Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in Environment and Resource Management from the University of Toronto.
